How Server Reforged works
Three simple steps to turn a spare computer into a game server for you and your friends. We handle the technical parts.
Set up your spare computer
Almost any laptop or desktop from the last several years will do. We give you a guided walkthrough that turns it into a server, one step at a time. You don't need to know anything about servers or Linux going in. If you can follow a recipe, you can do this.
Run one command
When your computer is ready, your dashboard shows you a single line to copy and paste. That one line installs everything and connects your computer to Server Reforged for you. No settings to dig through, no guesswork.
Create a server and invite your friends
Pick your game and answer a few quick questions about how you want to play. We set everything up so your server is ready on the first boot, no config files to wrangle. From there you tweak settings, add mods where the game supports them, and share the connection details so your friends can hop in. It all lives in one simple dashboard you can reach from any browser.
What we take care of for you
Hosting a server usually means a long list of chores. Here is the stuff you never have to think about.
Getting your friends connected
Your friends can join no matter how your home internet is set up. There is nothing to change on your router and no need to call your internet provider.
Game and mod updates
Flip on automatic updates and we'll keep the game and your mods current for you. Prefer to do it on your own schedule? Turn it off and update with a click. Either way, you're never stuck running anything by hand.
Bringing it back after a crash
If the game ever crashes, it gets started back up automatically so your friends are not left waiting on you.
The boring server stuff
Restarts, backups, and the settings most panels bury are handled for you. You stay the host, not the help desk.
Keeping your group posted
When the server comes online, a map goes live, or something crashes, we can drop a note straight in your group's Discord. Your friends stop pinging you to ask whether it's up.
Backups you can hold onto
Your worlds are backed up for you, and you can download a copy to your own machine whenever you want. Your save is yours to keep, wherever you go next.
What you'll need
- A spare laptop or desktop you can leave running. This becomes your rig. Lighter games like Palworld are easy on it, and heavier ones like ARK want more memory, so the more it has, the more headroom you have.
- An ethernet cable. Your server computer needs to be plugged into your router. We don't support running a server over WiFi.
- About half an hour for the first setup. After that, you manage everything from your dashboard.
